The Internet tells me that it's World Mental Health Day, so I'm going to act accordingly 😉 and THIS is something that is troubling me as I go deeper into the subject of Perinatal Depression as part of my studies. The BIOMEDICAL MODEL of depression works on the basis of depression having a biological origin whereby there is an imbalance of neurotransmitters in the brain 🧠 which can be improved by drug therapies. I wonder how many of those 5.5 million women (out of a population of around 33 million) are asked about the conditions of their lives before being offered drugs?? Could it be that their very real concerns about their jobs, wildly unaffordable childcare, possible birth trauma, not being heard about what's happened to their bodies during birthing, the loneliness and sometimes 'ground-hog-day' nature of early mothering....and the lack of potential for the DEEP-REST that's actually essential for their recovery....I could go on....could it be that their 'depression' is actually a normal reaction to 'the penny dropping', a WAKING UP TO THEIR WORLD 🌎 for a moment in time.......

THINGS THAT MATTER!!! Those of you reading who have done 'work' with me will be familiar with being asked "WHAT REALLY MATTERS TO YOU".....answering that question can be tricky for so many women who simply spent so long serving others that the don't actually know what THEY NEED.... and then the trick is to begin the redesign your life so that you start removing DISTRACTIONS and spend most if your days, weeks months and eventually YEARS going forward, living a life more attuned to your REAL NEEDS and achieve a higher level of CONGRUENCY....This book is a great read if you feel distracted from your true 'purpose' and want some solid steps to action to bring you back to SELF.....PS daily connection to nature REALLY MATTERS TO ME, more now than ever and look what happened in my garden ❤️ 😊 💙 💖 ☺️ so thrilled and proud I could burst! It reminds me of a line from a song 🎵 "When we are in tune, we can conduct the cosmos"!

#selfcarebysubtraction continues, this time subtracting Chichester for London, barefoot shoes for some bad-assed pointy heels, subtracting the nude lip for pillar box red, subtracting going to bed at 10.30 for GOING OUT at 10.30, subtracting red light before bed for red light not in bed, subtracting no booze for a few cocktails or 5!!! Subtracting gym sweat for gig sweat....and feeling VERY VERY ALIVE and grateful!!! And remembering that amongst all the contemplation and self-awareness work, for me, there's always a place for a wild time #allpartsarewelcomed #livinglikeimeanit I hope you're all having a wonderful Easter break and enjoying the 🌞 ps We are shortly to bed at just gone 8.30, #totallyruined 😴 😀

So many of us promised that when the P@ndemic was over, things would be different. Are they?? Because of my personal and familial sh*t stom, I not only promised but VOWED.....THINGS WOULD BE DIFFERENT.....FOREVER! So here's another of my #selfcarebysubtraction items. I vowed NEVER to work on a Sunday again and I vowed to only ever work a 9 month year....today is the beginning of my first #firebreak month.....I have zero plans tbh...school is still in and Joel has a holiday club for the 1st week of the Easter break....but it's literally not about the DOING....ITS ABOUT THE BEING....and THE holy act of THE BIMBLE. Right, so another #selfcarebysubtraction....literally, I'm beginning yo think the the answer is MORE TIME IN NATURE. So in a bid to subtract/lessen time away from NATURE...this is my project for the rest of the year.. A FULL ON VEG PATCH! Just one problem...I'm a novice...I've got a book and the promise of tons of soil for my Mother's Day gift 🎁 but what should I plant??? Who's got this nailed?? Where are my gardeners out there? What are your go-to crops even for novice?? I'd love your help on my first outing!!!

NEW YEAR GREETINGS!!!! Did you make resolutions this year??? I made just 1 that will run for the whole year....and I'll be sharing my triumphs and 'teachable moments' as I go! 2022 is my year if SELF/SOUL CARE BY SUBTRACTION'.....ie I sack-off as many draining, boring, un-nourishing, timed-out elements of my days, weeks, months in order to create the space for MORE JOY, FUN, EASE, PLEASURE! First exhibits.....just junked my crazy-full anxiety-inducing inbox. Jeez, that feels sooooooo good. Next, sacking-off my habit of listening to Radio 4 +news whist driving....soooooo depressing 😴🤯...replaced by Absolute 80's🥳, and now I have a little party everytime I'm in the car.....and FINALLY got hot/perfect PERMANENT eyebrows which I've been pencilling in for 35 years....literally gaining around 10 mins of my life back, everyday for the rest of my life!
